SOS is an experimental studio to cultivate a creative practice through an exploration of the idea of ‘Supports’. The emergent nature of settlements in the South is influenced by everyday practices, diverse knowledge systems & practices, governance systems, societal/communal structures & practices, socio-ecological linkages and most importantly the plurality of cultures, perspectives and approaches. SOS acknowledges the plurality and further dwells on co-developing a framework of ‘supports’ from learning from a chosen micro-context.
The focus of the project will be to explore creative practice as an act of listening and negotiating to enunciate the everyday use, maintenance and future of these water structures. For this edition we have curated a list of micro-contexts spread across four geographies within Bidar district for you all to engage for your thesis projects. These four geographies are Bidar, Humnabad, Bhalki & Basavakalyan.
